How RIS™ works.

The patented RIS™ (Rotary Impact Separator) is an advanced recycling technology specifically engineered to recover valuable materials from heavily contaminated industrial waste streams. Unlike conventional systems that rely on water or thermal processing, the RIS employs a sophisticated dry mechanical separation method.

By leveraging controlled mechanical impact and precise residence time, the system separates friable contaminants from flexible substrate materials. This ensures high-purity recovery of polymers and fibers while significantly reducing downstream processing requirements and operational costs.

Designed for industrial scale, the RIS technology represents the core of Broadview's commitment to transforming unrecoverable waste into high-value feedstocks, providing a versatile and robust platform for the future of advanced recycling.

RIS™ is not a hammer mill.

Unlike a conventional hammer mill, the patented RIS™ uses controlled impact and dual material flow to separate contaminants while preserving valuable recyclable material.

Controlled Impact

RIS

Separates contaminants while preserving valuable material

Hammermill

Continuously grinds material until it passes through the screen

Operating Temperature

RIS

Lower operating temperatures preserve polymer and fiber quality

Hammermill

Higher operating temperatures contribute to material degradation and reduced product quality

Material Discharge

RIS

Material discharges via two paths as soon as it reaches the desired size

Hammermill

Material remains in the mill until it passes through a single discharge screen

Material Preservation

RIS

Cleans and separates valuable materials while maintaining source material integrity

Hammermill

Chops feedstock into smaller pieces for cleaning, resulting in unnecessary material degradation

Residence Time

RIS

Adjustable for different material streams

Hammermill

Determined by the grinding process

Process Design

RIS

Combines controlled impact, adjustable residence time, and dual discharge to maximize material recovery

Hammermill

Reduces particle size rather than separating contaminants
